When is the best time to shave?

What is the best direction shave with the razor?

To be perfectly honest I have never tried pre shave oil before. I have very thin facial hair and never thought that I needed to use a pre shave oil. Boy was I wrong! I received a bottle of Anthony Sport Pre-Shave Oil compliments of Anthony himself. He wanted me to try a bunch of their Sport line products and see what I thought.

So I went through my normal morning shower routine. I would normally shave in the shower, but since I was using the pre shave oil to write a review I wanted to be out of the shower so I could focus more on the product. So after getting out of the shower I opened the bottle and dropped 5 drops into the palm of my have. I gave it a smell to see if it was fragrance free as Anthony Logistics claimed. Sure enough there was no scent.

Next I rubbed the pre shave oil in my hands and applied it to my face. It went on very smoothly and coated my face evenly with the little amount that I had used.

Now I have read that you should let a pre shave oil sit on your face for about a minute before applying shaving cream. This supposedly gives the oil a chance to condition the skin and to soften the hair follicles. So during this minute wait I washed my hand with some soap to remove the oil from my hands. With a little soap the oil easily came off my hands.

After a minute wait I squeezed a dime sized amount of the Sport Shaving Cream into my hand and applied it to my face. Now it was time to shave.

I grabbed my trusty Mach 3 and began to shave as I normally would. I instantly noticed that the blade seemed to glide across my face with very little resistance. I have used a lot of shaving creams before, but none with a pre shave oil applied before.

So I finished up shaving my face and rinsed my face off. I ran the back of my hand upwards on my cheek to see how close of a shave I had gotten. To my surprise I could not even feel any stubble at all. My face felt smoother than I have ever felt after a shave.

Prior to this review I was not entirely sold on pre shave oils. Not because I didn’t think they worked, but because I have very fine facial hair and thought I was getting the closest shave possible with just a shaving cream. Once again the Men’s skin Care Industry has proved me wrong. In conclusion Anthony Sport Pre-Shave Oil is a great addition to any guys morning shave routine, even for guys with fine facial hair like myself, but especially for men with thicker facial hair and beards. And for under $8 how can you go wrong?
